When Hubs started having some visual problems, he was always looking for his "favorite spices" but had trouble finding them. We started out with a small basket on the table which soon filled up so I decided we needed a nice spice rack for our small 30"x30" table.

I took the measurements and Home Depot cut the lumber to the sizes I needed. Then Hubs and I finished it!

We are so proud of ourselves since unsteady hands has about ended our days of doing house projects!

Of course this same idea can be used to different configurations to hold objects on the counter, at the coffee station, etc.

The first step was to make a mock up on a scrap piece of board.

After getting the lumber and Home Depot cutting them to specifications, we were ready to assemble.

We glued and screwed the pieces together. The 4 corner pieces were screwed in from the bottom and we were careful to make sure the screws that went into the side boards did not hit each other.

Then 2 coats of paint went on.

The soft side of self-stick velcro went over the screws on the bottom to keep them from scratching our table.

Here is our finished spice rack with Hub's spices...still have a little room to add more!!!

Suggested materials:
  • 8" board/2x2/trim   (Home Depot)
  • Glue, paint, screws   (Supplies we had)
