One idea is to use cheap masking tape or twine to hold bundles of wood together for stability when cutting. Measure to the length you want the wood to be, and wrap a strip of tape or twine within an inch of that length. Then you can use a hand saw, circular saw, cuts-anything knife, a hatchet, an axe, or another sturdy blade to cut the bundles. Leave the masking tape or twine in place since they will burn with the wood. My father was the first one to teach me KISS when working. Keep It Simple Stupid. Don’t try to complicate a simple job. • I chain saw would be your best option. If that is out of your price range, a jig saw will work too.

If you are up for the exercise, a bow type pruning saw will work well.
