I don't like to use pesticides because of my dogs, but I need to get rid of the fleas.

If the fleas are coming in on the dogs you will need to treat them as well as the house. Call your vet and ask them what they recommend to apply to the dogs. In the meantime you can wash your dogs using blue Dawn. That should take care of the fleas already on them. Then treat your house. A lot of good info here for that:
