How can I clean an old non-stick pan?

some white stuff stuck on it, looks like baked on flour, would anyone know how to remove this, I'm afraid to use it, even the dishwasher didn't get it off.Thaks, Sally

A nice soak can do wonders that a dishwasher can't touch. Soak in warm soapy water for half an hour and then use a nylon scrubby that is pink or white (gentler than green) to wipe off remaining spots. Rinse

  Hmm.... It sounds like it could be the coating has worn off. Most non-stick pans are aluminum, so if the coating has worn off this may be aluminum bloom which is basically aluminum's rust.

I use warm water and Dawn (blue) detergent for the tough stuff. I get a small bottle from the dollar store and just a drop does it.

A good soak with hot soapy water should loosen it.

That's what I say too. Just soak it a while, however long it takes, then it should be very easy to just rub off. Good luck.
