    I am not sure of your window size or your needs, but as an alternative to making them, try Walmart. We got ours there with the purpose of covering our patio doors, they have a good selection and are reasonably priced...they do a good job. You might also try Amazon.

    you can try putting a flannel sheet behind the curtains.

    I made quilt curtains to insulate when I had drafty windows. I took flat sheets and sandwiched quilt batting with a few rows of stitching. They also made great black out curtains. In a pinch use clips to hang a quilt or blanket.

    Check JCPenney, you can probably buy them cheaper than you can make them. I got some a few weeks ago for $7/panel.
