I decided wanted to get in the mood for fall and the holiday’s but didn’t want to decorate for Halloween alone rather for fall and fall foliage. So I had purchased the planter at a yard sale. Off to the thrift store I went.

Planter and thrift items

I purchased a foam base and flowers and wheat Steam for a buck a piece. I knew I would need filler for pot but didn’t want it to be heavy.

Plastic bags and tissue box

I used a empty tissue box on it’s side and took all those countless plastic trash bags laying around and stuffed them around the tissue box for support. Once it was stable I glued my foam to the box.

Pine cones

I have a large pine tree in my front yard so what better way to fill in around foam them to recycle my pine cones

Rubber band to hold in place

I put a large rubber band around the base of foam for extra support of tall flower steams then just started wedging pine cones in for support and glued what pine cones I could to keep in place .

Wheat stems

A few of stems and foam

Gold fruit and ribbon

Final touches of gold fruit and ribbon.

Fall welcome

I love it turned out great with a few simple cheap items.

Finished fall decor

I placed it at my front door and it welcomes them with pretty fall foliage. I really like this one cause it took no time to make and it was all reused items. I hope you enjoy! Let me know your thoughts.

You could even spray the pine cones with gold paint. I have a basket I did that with pine cones I had collected in Florida many years ago. They are still in great shape

(the pine cones). Are the flowers and fruit real or faux?
