I found a tutorial for you and #6 is the one using an iron. However they stated a laser printer. I am having a hard time finding on for an inkjet photo.

Yes! I have used mod podge in the past for a photo transfer and it had worked well! Also you can get it to print on parchment paper and then rub the back of the parchment on your wooden surface and the picture will appear on there.
