Chocolate Glaze would be far easier
Good idea, Betsy! But Maria, if you are set on staining, you first need to sand all the cabinets. They surely have a sealer on them which would keep another stain from entering the wood smoothly. Then clean with tsp or another good cleaner. Then stain. As it is drying, check for uneven or missed spots. Sand, clean, stain, seal. Enjoy! Jewell
You can stain over stain with little prep using gel stain. Any good brand will work. Minwax has instructions. You can go darker but not lighter.
