How does a DIY painted faucet hold up?

Hey folks, the other day I asked about painting a kitchen faucet, handles etc. I did get a couple of replies, thank you for those. But I really wanted to hear from someone who has done this and "lived" with it for awhile in order to be able to tell me how/if it holds up. I'm a senior and a diy'er … so I'm doing my best to do things correctly so I don't a) mess it up and b) don't have to undo anything I've done! My hardware in my kitchen is aged nickel and this new faucet is shiny chrome - the only finish that was available. My lights are aged nickel as well. Thanks for being so helpful.

I only did this in a very small scale, but you can take a nylon scrubby and rig up a jig that keeps your hand in precise straight alignment. Then buff the surface using single strokes to make very delicate scratches in the clear coating of the chrome. This makes it look like brushed nickel instead of shiny chrome. Test it on something little first. I liked the results, but it's really important that all the scratches are are parallel so that it doesn't just look scratched.

Hey Laura! I painted ours a couple years ago in Modern Masters Bronze finish. It's made for metal. I used their primer before and it has held up well for us! :)
