How do you clean a chalkboard? I purchased used chalk boards from a wedding where they used a chalk pen to write their message. I cannot get it to come clean

I bought a chalk pen to write on my chalkboard and it wouldn't come off , I tried everything !!! I painted over it with 2 coats of chalkboard paint !
You can try scribbling over with Chalk pen and then wiping off. I know this works for white boards
No other option than chalk paint that I can think about. You can get it in spray can or brush on can. They must have used something other than chalk to make original message.
can get off just get some chalk board paint and redo the whole thing easiest way
