I would spray above the pipes to give it more depth. Spraying it all 1 color would make the room seem not as tall to me.
We just used a sprayer and sprayed the entire ceiling ducts and all Iron Ore by Sherwin-Williams. Love it!
Using a paint sprayer will make easy work of this. Get lots of drop cloths.
We just finished spraying ours yesterday. A sprayer will get the job done in hours instead of days!
