Holiday wreaths are flooding the stores, but I wanted something more unique than a round pine wreath. So I started scouring the craft stores in pursuit of things I could use to make a unique holiday wreath. I think this hoop wreath is it.

Material List:

  • 12x20 embroidery hoop
  • Fabric (Fat Quarter 18x21 inches)
  • Gift Bow
  • Holiday Ornaments
  • Greenery
  • Berries
  • Super Glue
  • Fabric scissors

Iron your fabric before using. Then place the inside hoop on the table and cover with your fabric.

When you have the fabric lined up how you like, set the outer hoop on top and gently press down.

Once you have your fabric lined up and pulled tight, tighten the top screw to secure the fabric. Using fabric scissors, cut off the excess material.

Next, I attached the ornaments to the top of the hoop using Super Glue.

Then I made two bunches of hoilday greenery to help conceal the wood blocks and screw on the top of the hoop.

I purchased a 2 stem package of lambs ear (Walmart) and a bunch of holiday berries (Hobby Lobby). I broke off two bunches to wrap between the lambs ear leaves (save the rest for another project)

I positioned the greenery to my liking and held them in place by hand.

I used a gift bow and its wire ties to secure the bow and the greenery in place.

Wrap the ties around the block and the greenery.

Twist the tie tightly. Repeat on the other side.

Pull the ties to meet in the middle...

and twist them together.

Here is the finished product. A beautiful change for a front door holiday wreath.

It's also beautiful as wall decor.

I love it, but with hounds tooth, I would just have to do a crimson colored bow. Just to make it pop a little. But then again, that's just me.
