It's just the nature of the product. No matter how tightly you screw the lid on, over time it eventually dries up.
I don't think there is a way to keep it from getting hard. That's why I use wite out instead, but that might not work depending on what you're using liquid paper for.
Don't waste money on wite out liquid; the Wite Out EZ correct tape is so much better. Very thin, accurate & perfect coverage every time. Papermate, BIC and a few others make this in a variety of dispenser sizes; it is a little pricier than liquid wite out but never dries out - it is good forever. It is also buildable it you make a mistake over the original mistake!
Hi Patricia, you can add a few drops of acetone nail polish remover to it.
