  • HI John,

My parents had a slight flea issue this past spring. They used the dish soap trick from this post.

Hope this helps! Lauren - The Little Lake Cottage

Thanks. Tried the soap thing. Got one flea. We used a carpet spray from the vet and thorough vacuum. Have not captured any in the dish for several days. Hope they're gone!

Did you treat your yard? You can have the house covered and then they bring them in from the yard.

Get several boxes of borax. Using a sieve, pour borax into it and sprinkle it everywhere, including in the yard. It will not hurt the grass. Leave it down for three or four days. It will dry out fleas and eggs. Then vacuum up the floors.

fleas and eggs gone. Comfortis is a flea medication for dogs (rx from vet) that will prevent reinfestation. The borax is gritty to walk on, but worth it.

Fleas don't like vinegar.....When you are vacuuming (you should vac every day for a while) put vinegar on your shoes, feet or socks, and they will not get on you to travel from place to place.
