Mason Jar Herbs
I love cooking with herbs and have the best place to grow them and keep a fresh supply all year long.
And growing them in Mason Jars, well being a southern girl, its a must.
Using chalkboard tags and twine makes them a show off piece
Very easy to start from seed and I do recommend putting in a small amount of pebbles in the bottom to help draw out excess water.
To get the seeds going, I just mist them every day and before you know it, you have sprouts.
After your herbs are fully grown, the more you harvest some leaves, the more they will branch out.

Give me basil, parsley.oregano and rosemary and I am set for a feast. Mine are not in decorator containers; but all over the desk and garden. I couldn't live without them.

Can you use those little glass marble things in the bottom of the jar In place of rocks? I have all kinds of those?

Sure. That will work. I use small pebbles/gravel in the bottom all the time.

I don't have a window in my kitchen so I plant my basil outside my front door. It never stays "nice" like everyone shows in their cute herb garden projects. I get "jack in the beanstalk" results.
do they stay small because of being inside?
I have tried herbs in my kitchen windows. I get a gnat infestation.
