DIY Nursery Pegboard Changing Station
Want to add functional wall art to a nursery? Learn how to make an easy DIY nursery pegboard changing station that is functional yet adorable.
When we moved to Florida, we thought we had planned out the first year very carefully. We did not include getting pregnant on our agenda. Since life works in mysterious ways, we got pregnant 2 weeks after our move. To make a long story short, we needed to make room for our little one and a DIY Nursery Pegboard Changing Station seemed like the perfect solution.
We needed
something that provided storage while being functional and taking little to no floor space since we were going to share the room. We came across the pegboard changing station and loved it.
This is how you can make your own DIY Nursery Pegboard Changing Station...
Step 1: Figure out what size board you will need...
We wanted it to be slightly smaller than our dresser so we went with 24x40”.
Step 2: Shop...
Supplies:
- 24x48” pegboard
- Pegboard hooks
- Pegboard baskets
- White paint
- 1 - 1x4x10 common board
- Stain/ poly of your choice
- Wood screws
- Finish nails
- Wood glue
Tools:
- Miter saw
- Table saw
- Compound square
- Drill
- Tape measure
- Pneumatic nail gun
Step 3: Cut pieces...
- Cut pegboard to measure 24x40”.
- Cut 2 - 24” pieces and 2-40” pieces- miter the ends at 45° to make the frame.
Step 4: Build your DIY Nursery Pegboard Changing Station
Build the frame to fit around your board.

.Step 5: Paint/stain...
- Paint the pegboard with white paint- we used spray paint.
- Stain the frame- we used a stain and poly mix in walnut.
Step 6: Assemble...
- Once the frame is built, attach the pegboard using wood glue and finish nails.
Step 7: Hang...
- Find studs in the wall.
- Using wood screws attach to pegboard through peg holes. We used the holes in each corner, you may add more.
Step 8: Accessorize...
- Put on the baskets and bins and place the items you will need. We added diaper rash cream, diapers, wipes, lotions, hairbrushes, combs, thermometer, nail care products, bulb suction syringe, and soft toys to keep the baby entertained.
This DIY nursery pegboard changing station, along with the dresser, and changing pad have been a life and space saver.
We have everything at hand and organized. Makes changing a breeze.
