Children will love this cheerful sparkling hot air balloon! You can make this decoration for a nursery or child’s bedroom all by yourself using the MDF shape, some self-adhesive glitter paper and some coloured ribbons. This eye-catcher is great as a personalized baby shower gift, as a birthday present or to add some colour and fun to a room.

Place the MDF shape on a suitable piece of paper. Trace all the inside and outside edges of the MDF shape with a pencil. Remove the MDF shape.

Place the MDF shape on a suitable piece of paper. Trace all the inside and outside edges of the MDF shape with a pencil. Remove the MDF shape.

On the inside of the shape use a different colour to draw an extra line 3 mm from the traced lines. This will be the cutting line. (See the red line in the photograph.)

Draw a curved line above the circles and then make equal segments to create stripes on the balloon. (See the black lines in the photograph.)

On the drawing number the top section of the balloon, the stripes and the basket and then cut along the red and black lines. These are the stencils for the self-adhesive glitter paper.

Place the stencils number-side up on the back of the self-adhesive glitter paper and trace them. Give each traced shape the right number so that you know later where to place them. Then cut out the shapes.

First place the cut-out pieces of glitter paper on the MDF shape to check that they fit. Trim if required. Then stick them on.

Use the Nuvo Glitter Accents to finish off the seams and edges neatly.

Make a flag garland by using the Vaessen 3-in-1 punch to punch out flags and the Vaessen Cut ‘Em Easy for letters. Stick the letters onto the flags, attach the flags to the ribbon and hang the flag garland on the hot air balloon.

Attach a few coloured ribbons to the hot air balloon's hanging hole and hang it up.
