I received this chair about 10 years ago.... it is wide and comfortable... my husbands favorite. There still are no rips or tears BUT oh does it need cleaning. I was going to try to have it reupholstered but #1 there is nowhere in our small town that does that and #@ I thibk there is some nice coloring under there somewhere.(The cushion cover can come off but obviously nothing else on the chair.)Any ideas out there to magically clean it?

You can rent upholstery cleaning machines - this would be the best way to really deep clean it. :)

You might want to look into using a handheld Bissell cleaner for spot cleaning the upholstery. I bought one and have it on hand for all carpet stains and upholstery cleaning. Put a carpet cleaner formula in the machine and spray with the nozzle. Lightly scrub(careful not to mark the fabric) and suck up all the liquid. It does wonders to remove stains and deep clean upholstery. Sometimes after it dries if you see water stains in your fabric(usually white fabric), you will want to do it again over the entire seat so the whole thing gets damp. I always have great luck using this method. Good luck!

Some ideas. That fabric is called Herculon. Weave is bullet proof.

Look for a zipper on the seat cushion. If there is one, double check the type of fabric the chair is. You may be able to wash the cushion cover in your washing machine. Since the seat is probably the dirtiest, you'll be amazed how beautiful it turns out. Use the carpet cleaning machine on the rest of the chair.

I use the upholstry tool on my carpet cleaner to do client's upholstry, sometimes I take the seat cushion cover off and throw it in the washing machine,,,, but don't fully dry it, instead take it out damp and it will stretch over the cushion much easier than if its fully dry.
