I think that the headboard would make really pretty legs for the the table. If you cut it in half and added a leg to each side (where the middle of the headboard was) then you could put a solid piece of wood over the legs and have a very pretty piece!

Only thing I can see is to have glass company cut a thick piece of glass to fit the recessed area for the machine. As for the rest to make the table I have no clue.

Do you have any plan in mind? Did you want to use the headboard for the table with glass over it so you can see the design or do you want to use it as a back with the table in front of it? My question is if you want to use this headboard as a back and you make a rectangular frame with a top for the table and attach it to the headboard--adding front legs----will this be high enough for you to use as a sewing table? I have made many benches from old headboards but normally they only work out for the height of a bench not a table.

You need four legs for a table and the open work on the headboard would not be appropriate to hold a machine. This, IMHO would involve too much altering, additional wood, and cost to make it a practical choice.

Thank you for all the great suggestions I was just in need of a cable that I can sew on and I had extra headboard and I didn't really want to throw it away

Don't throw away the headboard! It may not work for a sewing table BUT you CAN make a bench!

    Agree with Emily.

Purchasing custom cut glass to fit on top, plus legs and hardware to be sturdy enough to support the weight of the glass will not be cost effective. Plus, you have no way of knowing whether the headboard is level, which is important for a sewing table, especially when the machine is running.
