How can I make new towel holders out of old brackets?

Moved to a new place. The brackets are on the wall. But the rings that hold the towels are missing. Anyone know a good way to use the old brackets on the walls an how to make them useful towel holders again?

Are you keeping the wallpaper? Im afraid you ate going to have to repair where the old brackets are Best to just remove and put up new ones. If keeping paper, maybe there are some extra pieces for patching. Those particular towel bars are old builder cheap. Nothing historic to save.

I agree with Kelli. Replace them. The square bar for the towel holder is gone. Easier and cheaper than try to fabricate something to fit. You can use a dowel or piece of broomstick for the bar and paint it for a quick fix.

They do sell the replacement bars at HD, Lowes and similar. They can be cut to size and are held in place between the brackets with spring loaded ends.
