How can I protect newly painted cabinets?
I am painting my kitchen cabinets, using a latex paint. What should I use, if anything, after painting them to help protect the paint from spills and so forth? Thank you.

Hi there, after priming and then painting out my Mom's entire kitchen we did three coats of a semi gloss polycrylic and it has REALLY helped make the paint job last. It also has the benefit of making the cabinets easy to clean and wipe down.

Hi, 1cs1267!
In my opinion, there is no need to seal painted cabinets. Most quality paints are "scrubbable" meaning that they can be cleaned with a scrub pad or sponge with soap when they get dirty. In my experience, I have painted cabinets with an interior satin paint and did not use sealer, and was able to clean them without a problem. I hope this helps!
I have found that by merely being careful -- one can keep the cabinets looking good. Remember --- it takes maybe a month for the paint to fully cure! Treat them gently in the meantime.
