IMO trying to make your own wallpaper border would not be a cost effective project. In this case 'home made' quality can not compete with the strength and durability of pre-purchased. Have you checked at Walmart.com or Amazon.com for availability of the design you are seeking?
Hi ! Try using removable wallpaper ! Using an xacto knife cut the wallpaper to your liking and peel the backing off and apply . There are some awesome prints out there check out sites like wallsneedlove.com or tempaper.com good luck !
I suggest that you find a stencil pattern you like and use that to create your own unique border. Borders and wallpaper popularity come and go. They will probably start to come back again in a few years. Right now they are not a decorating trend so they aren't easy to find.
The stencil idea has its advantages, even though time consuming,; you can paint over it. If you do this, paint a border top and bottom. Paint the border first, and your stencil placement will be easy.
