I’m a big believer in recycling and reusing old furniture. But this doesn’t mean it has to look old.

I had been looking for a side/coffee table to fit next to an armchair. Nothing in the shops seemed right for my house decor.

one day I was walking past a charity shop and I saw the perfect little table.

The right night and width. The details of the spindle made me fall in love with it.

and whet a bargain at £10.

I paid for it there and then and took it home.

and with in a few short hours it was in its new spot with its amazing transformation.

I chose my favourite paint.

frenchic lazy range. There really isn’t another brand I would recommend higher.

I had left overs from another upcycle and as both pieces of furniture are in the same room I thought it would be perfect for this table too. It would be so sold next to the yellow armchair.

Clean of the grease and dirt

Water and normal soap won’t alway be enough when your cleaning furniture.

Sugar soap I’ll get off the grease and dirt build up over time.

This will ensure the paint sticks well to your chosen furniture.

Without cleaning your furniture properly the paint will chip and won’t last as long.

Because I’m using frenchic there is no need to sand or prime. (this is why it’s called lazy range)

If your using different paint I would at least recommend sanding the woodwork or other surfaces lightless to ruff it up and give something for the paint to stick too.

Some paints will still require priming. And I would recommend priming if you painting over pine.

I chose this size paint brush to ensure I got into all the details.

It’s a 1inch brush.

With details like this it is important not to paint on too thick.

this paint dries within an hour so you can do lots of light coats quickly.

Another top tip when painting is to make sure there are no dribble marks.

If you have painted too thick it’s likely the paint will run.

when it dries this will be difficult to rectify.

Ta da!

There you have it.

The perfect size table for beside the armchair. Looking super smart.
