How do I clean 50 year old wood furniture?

I have a 50 year old wood bedroom set in excellent condition..... the only problem is it needs a really good cleaning to bring it back to life. I don't want to sand it just clean it and polish it to bring back the luster. what can I use?

I don't think we have any furniture that is younger than that! Some is unpainted, some painted. Mostly we just dust it, if painted I might wash it off gently. The table we have in daily use to eat from is probably 19th C. Since we always use a table cloth except when I play Mah jongg on it, it gets only a light dusting. Antique end table just gets dusted.
