Which kind of felt should I use for making a Christmas gnome's hat?

I am making...well attempting to make.... a Christmas gnome and Im not sure which felt to use for his hat. It seems there is a lot of different kinds. Do I use cheapy,,,.38 cents or the 1.36 which is thicker. There is a lot of different ways to make them........makes my eyes go wonky......Im going for the no sew kind. Sooooo any tips or anything else to make this easier for me. Thanks everyone!!!! I greatly appreciate all the help with my questions.

Good quality craft felt is what I would use. It works well with hot glue and fabric glue.

It depends on how long you want it to last. For a longer lasting project, use the nicer felt. It's so much nicer to work with and doesn't fall apart if you sew it too much.
craft felt should be fine-thicker felt will hold it's shape better than thin felt
Wool felt is more expensive but it has nice body. For improved rigidity you can use 2 pieces of craft felt with interfacing in between.
