  • You will need a chemical stripper. Try Citristrip.

You will need a paint striper to remove it all. Follow the instructions on the label. You may still have to lightly sand after you have cleaned it off and then wipe it down with a clean damp cloth to remove the dust before doing anything else to it.

You need a stripper that says it removes stain on the front of the can like Kleen-Strip. Citristrip doesn't remove stain.

Hi Cathy: Here's a site that may help:

Just be careful with any strippers you may use. Be sure to have a lot of ventilation and don't use around a flame, even10 feet away as sometimes the fumes will crawl along the floor towards the flame and - well - boom! So, if you can do this in the garage or outside, that would be best.

    Good luck
