How to Turn Your Old Blouse Into an Ambient BOHO Lamp Shade
I had one of those tall paper Shade floor lamps which my kitten had great fun jumping through in a game of hide & seek tearing it beyond repair and I didn’t want to throw the whole lamp away as it was still working well.
I rummaged in my wardrobe for some old clothes I no longer wear that may be useable for a lamp rescue and transformation .
The piece of fabric I choose is a tie dye turquoise blue and black cotton and I look for a piece big enough that won’t have too many seams etc.
I begin to cut the fabric into a shape I feel will fit the metal frame and be long enough to create a balanced size shade.
I have been wanting to try my new glue gun and so fit in the cartridge of glue and plug it in to heat.
When warmed up i start to spread the glue around the fabric to attach it around the metal ring .
I continue around The frame remembering to press firmly on glued seams to set firm and strong.
It is a little tricky and takes a bit of manoeuvring but at last it starts to to take shape.
The seams are a little challenging but bit by bit I glue and hold in place till stuck firmly. I’m impressed with my first glue gun experience.
I tie the bottom in a knot to base and I am quite pleased with final result. The light strength is a little dim with dark fabric shadeBlocking the ligh quite a bit but it actually gives a nice soft bluish ambience that is unusually calming.
