We have now been in the new house for 6 months and are loving it. BUT the grout on the floor is bugging me and we can't afford to redo the floors right now. I'm thinking that refreshing the grout might work but am not sure of what colour to use. Any ideas?
Yes I painted mine. Color match you tile to a paint color and get a quart of it in oil based semi gloss. It won't be shinny because grout is so rough but you need it for the durabity. Use an artist brush about size of grout. Will take at least 2 coats. Any paint you get on tile wipes right off with a rag and a little paint thinner. Mine is white and still looks good 8 years later. Clean first really well.
Heather....You can repaint the grout. I purchased a small bottle of the color I wanted and painted the old with a toothbrush, wiping with a damp rag. I really like mine and it has worked well for several years. I purchased this at Lowe's. Good luck
ps The grout was probably sealed. I hope the painting works. You may try a permanent marker that works on slick surfaces to see if it will hold before you paint. They probably used dark grout so dirt would not show.
I recommend Maepi Grout Refresh. I have used in two bathrooms and it has held up for years. You can buy it on Amazon, but Floor and Decor sells it for 1/2 Amazons price. It also has a sealer in it to prevent mold and dirt from forming. I love this stuff. You can use an artist brush or childs tooth brush All instructions are on the bottle. Oh and a little goes a long way.
