How do I make plain white cabinets look & feel cozy in a small cabin?

I live in a small cabin like home and the living room is the first room when you walk thru my front door , but walk straight thru into the kitchen and the cabinets are facing the front door. So they are the first things that catch you eyes when you first walk in

You could consider removing some of the doors to make open shelving and make it interesting by adding wallpaper to the back.
