Sea sponge or ceiling roller. U can give a marbled look with the sea sponge w multiple colors and layers or give a few coats of color scheme all over bricks then use a thin brush and use accent color to trace the grout lines.
I have seen great results online with whitewash, which is how I found Hometalk.com in the first place!
Whitewash by far the quickest, least expensive and easiest. I tackled our monster wall a couple years ago. Posted it here on Hometalk "massive brick fireplace wall whitewash success"
