We have tiny closet space so we used other parts of the bedroom. First we got flat plastic bins with rollers on the bottom that fit under our bed. We have 2 but our kingsized bed could keep 4 under it if we needed. We put out of season clothes in them. Then we put shoe holders on the door, but you can use the wall if it is easier. You can put small quarter rounds on the door, or like us hang the plastic shoe pockets that have space for 48 pair in one hanger. Then our tub had about 9 inches between it and the wall and we got a narrow shelf online, that is 4 feet wide and 8 or so inches deep with 6 shelves (plus we use the very top) and made a built in linen closet for sheets, pillow cases, towels, and even baskets with extra socks and under shirts in them. Then we do not use the tub at all in our master bath, (we have a separate shower) so hubby put a board plywood over the tub (with suitcases we never use etc in the tub and they have other things in them we seldom use) and put a dowel rod above the tub to hang a second closet space! We also put excess seasonal clothes in tubs on the plywood out of the way of the hanging clothes and he put a second dowel rod for a sheet "curtain" to close the closet off. Then we put another shoe pocket holder on the inside of the same master bathroom for various supplies we need like hair brushes, combs, extra shampoo etc to have on hand when needed. Our bedside stands are miniature dressers to hold all our night time needs of meds, magazines, etc. Hope this helps Charlene to give you some ideas.
If you have wall space, you can put up hooks to hang purses, extra shirts, etc.
Flocked hangers provide a lot of space. Add cascading hooks if you can or a 2nd rod to double the hanging room.
We have extremely limited closet space too. We built really nice sturdy shelves above the bed and placed fabric cubes on it. It looks neat and tidy and adds a pop of color
