I used to make large hangers for large plant pottery, I used various types of jute cord. E-Bay and Etsy have many types.... yarn would stretch IMHO whereas jute and sisal don't

Phentex yarn is commonly used in macrame projects. It is softer on the hands than a jute based rope and holds its shape well if knotted tightly.
