Decorate your Christmas tree this year with this easy holiday Christmas craft project for making simple plaster essential oil ornaments. An inexpensive way to make custom holiday Christmas ornaments, these DIY essential oil diffuser ornaments dry quicker than clay and work just as well. Make a set of three DIY essential oil ornaments for your tree this holiday season in about 30-minutes for your holiday home decor or DIY Christmas gifts for friends and family.

You can even customize the colors for your DIY essential oil ornaments. It's so easy to do. And if you're on a tight budget, then you easily use eyeshadow from old palettes to add a punch of color.

You can find the full tutorial for making DIY essential oil ornaments on my blog here. In addition you'll also discover tips and tricks for making your ornaments as well as 8 holiday essential oil blend recipes to use or gift with your ornaments. I've also shared 7 more fragrant, scented Christmas crafts! In the meantime, however, here's a brief overview of how they're made.

You'll need plastic, silicone Christmas ornament molds and water to make these easy ornaments. Colorants such as eyeshadow, powder pigments, mica and glitter are optional.

In a large glass bowl, combine four Tablespoons of plaster with a teaspoon or more of colorant, to suit. (The color is optional.) Mix the dry ingredients together with a fork to fully incorporate. Then add three Tablespoons of water and mix well.

Working quickly, fill the molds with plaster, then level off the excess. You can use a chopstick or fork to remove any air bubbles, if necessary.

Once your essential oil ornaments have hardened completely (in about 20-30 minutes) carefully unmold them. Then simply fun ribbon or bakers twine through the hole in the top to hang on your Christmas tree. Add the essential oil blend of your choice to the back of the ornaments for a seasonal holiday scent.

I love the idea of gifting these ornaments with a bottle of your own custom Christmas essential oil blend!

(As with most projects, the more ornaments you make, the less they cost for each one. The plaster makes a LOT of ornaments. As you only need to purchase the molds once, you can make about 30 ornament for around $1.25 each or less if you buy your materials at a local craft store.)
