DIY Plywood Plank Floors
While OSB is the most popular structural panel, CDX plywood is the most popular type of traditional or "veneer" plywood. CDX plywood is like other laminate plywoods, but the outer layers of laminate are grades "C" and "D," which means they are cosmetically rough and contain many imperfections, thus lowering their cost.
Because it is engineered with many layers, plywood flooring is strong, stable and durable. You can use it in both hot and cold weather conditions, making it perfect for New Zealand's range of cool and warm climates.

Hardwood Floors From Plywood??? YES!!!
I just painted mine while I saved up for what I wanted. Used wood filler in seems and screw holes. Sanded, primed. With oil based primer. Lighted sanded again. Two coats of oil based paint. It held up the 5 years it too me to afford real hardwood flooring. Looked good.
These are pretty impressive. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/floors-ceilings/floors-from-plywood-to-hardwood-look-35829544
