How would you put up a partial privacy fence in a rental backyard?

Hi Tracy, you could put some posts in the ground and screw lattice to them. Would that work for your yard?

Or if you could hang a shower curtain, you could put a colorful sheet there to give some privacy.

Inexpensive bamboo fencing from the garden center and some metal fence posts you can pound into the ground would do the trick. It comes on rolls in various heights and sizes of bamboo. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=bamboo+fencing+rolls&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

The home improvement stores sell fence panels that are 6 or 8 foot sections. They only require the support posts to hold them in place and you can do as few or as little as necessary. We have a gap on our rental land that needs some privacy and one panel does the trick. If the landlord prefers, they are easy to remove when you move.

You can make stand alone posts by putting them in buckets (make sure they're quite wide so they're not tippy) full of concrete, than you can move them around anywhere and affix your fence to them.
