How do I use plastic cups to create a light ball?

What's a light ball? Do you have a picture?

My Mother made me one and she said that she made holes in the bottom of the cups so that the lights could be inserted into the cups. then she glued the bottoms together around the edges to form the ball. The tutorials show how. then before completing the ball she put the lights through the bottom of the cups and finished gluing the last of them into the ball. It was beautiful and lasted quite awhile. Problem arose when it was stored in the attic and the cups became deformed. Made me very sad to lose my Mothers gift.
