How do I put shutters on a 5-window bow window?

  • Can you post a photo so we can offer better suggestions? Do you need working shutters or purely decorative?

WE do not have a bay window but a large window with 12 individual shutters that open and close. the tops and bottoms are pegged together and three sets on each side are hinged together. We did the work many years ago. The shutters fit perfectly. We have them on the front window too, and on a high window in the next room. We have lots of shutters in our house. They are great for light control.

    Hello Deborah,

Fit one on each of the outside wings of the bay and another across the three centre windows. Works well...............

Is it a bow window , or a bay window?

If it is indeed a five part bow window, then each of the windows can be fitted with an individual shutter panel.

I would recommend the hidden tilt style, rather than the centre tilt style.

    Hello Deborah,

Assuming you mean on the outdoors. Just fix one each side of the window as decoration. If you want them two work then they will have to be fitted above on some sort of hinge that would let them down. I would say best to ask a professional to give you a price and ask how they would do it. Then look into whether it would be something you could do yourself. Best wishes.
