How do I resurface a wall that had old plastic tiles removed from it?

I have removed two layers of old plastic green tile from my bathroom. I would like to install new tile or something else what is the cheapest way to resurface the walls? They have lots of glue and some holes from previous screws.

I would check out beadboard paneling at Home Depot, Lowes etc. I think you would have to do some cleanup though of glue, holes.

Bead board is a great idea, there are tile wall panels as well. Or you could do some repair and retile.

Either, Sand it down using an electric sander (Be sure to wear or goggles ) It will be messy, or have the wall re-plastered!
You will need to scrape the old glue off and patch the holes. Alternately, you could apply new wall board in that area. I usually just scrape and patch.
Scrape off as much as you can, then buy a board and batten kit from Home Depot. You really need to cover it up, because it will never be flat.
