Should I buy a reciprocating saw for small wood crafts?
No. Reciprocating saws are for destroying everything in your path. Great tool!
I think a jigsaw would be more suitable for small wood crafts. Or a dremel with all the fancy gadgets.
How small are the wood crafts you want to do?
Not necessary for SMALL wood crafts! A jigsaw, a dremmel or a miter saw are all cutting tools I use for small wood crafts.
I have one and have never used it. A jigsaw would be my suggestion, it works on most projects.
A scroll saw might be helpful.
Reciprocating saws are more useful for demolition work to cut out walls, nails, and other things. It is not a tool for fine woodworking.
A circular saw would be more helpful. I wrote this article on the best tools for beginners - https://www.charlestoncrafted.com/woodworking-tools-for-beginners/
A dremel tool set and a mini circular saw or multitool is what woodworkers I know use the most.
Hi Dana: Like the others said, a reciprocating saw is used for big projects. If you are making small things, I'd use a jig or scroll saw and some small hand saws like a Little Nic utility hand saw or a razor saw. Here's Lowes site for small saws, you might find something here that would fit your needs: https://www.lowes.com/search?searchTerm=hand+saws Good luck
