Here;s the best way Tim! Don't forget to oil it when you are done as this will make it easier to clean.
Your pan should also be seasoned initially. If you didn't season it before you used it clean it well first and then season it. Once you have it seasoned, the next time you clean it make sure you oil it when you are done.
Thanks , this was very helpful. I definitely will follow those instructions.😎

Unless I used the electrolysis method for restoring old cast iron skillets (not going to happen since I would probably de-surface my fingers or burn down the garage), no amount of scrubbing would ever clean the crusty rusted charred ones that I bought at auctions---So my only choice was to clean them in my self-cleaning oven. Easy and works great and they look brand new after I season them.

Hi ! You don't say what you need to clean off them ??? If it is hardened food , then put water in the pan and boil it for awhile , let it cool down some then use a lot scrapper or spatula to scrape off the stuck on stuff . Then clean well like usual . If it is that use got water and steel wool , rinse well , dry thoroughly and start the season process . To season your pans , lightly rub oil onto the pan and bake at 350° for a half hour let cool and repeat the oil and bake 3 more times , it is time consuming , but the results are well worth it !
Thanks Pamela, this was very helpful. I definitely will follow those instructions.😎
Mine haven't seen a drop of water in decades, however I do toss them into a campfire ever so often. Most used cookware in my kitchen.
So welcome Tim! Happy holidays to you and your family! ⛄
