How can I thoroughly clean a tan-colored carpet?

Our carpet is very old and in need of help. Due to $, We are at this time unable to replace 😢 Is there anything Y’all can Suggest to help. Color is light beige/tan.

Can you put an inexpensive area rug right over it? Also check carpet stores for remenants that you could buy for cheap to either replace or put over top

Get it professionally steam cleaned. Not that much money. Have this task performed annually for longest wear. I have mine done every 3 months, but there are 11 pets in my house and many visiting animals as well. You will be surprised as to how good they look.

  Thank you for your response. Wall to wall carpets were already in house when we bought and it’s been steamed by us quite often with a very Powerful steamer. The poor stuff is just FLAT from age, I’m afraid. Hope you and your babies have amazing Holidays. We have 3 awesome fur babies.

  So welcome Irene! Yes, I hear you there too, I have the same issue going on here too in spots. I had the carpet installed before I moved in, but it was cheap carpet and that was 20 years ago. Part of the house has been replaced with hardwood, but some of the senior pets don't do well on the slick surface, so I have covered up with inexpensive area rugs. Is it necessary to have a carpet where it is? You could paint the floor if you own the house.
