Is it wood, plastic or something else? Is there a name of the company that made the seat stamped on it somewhere?
If it is plastic you could use the plastic friendly spray paint.
These spray paints have a primer in addition to the paint in the spray can. They are very effective I’ve used them on my plastic or resin Adirondack chairs and the even hold up well in outdoor elements. If your seat is plastic I’ll consider plastic friendly spray paint it comes in multiple colors.
