They can be used to make waste baskets or bins!

Hello. Keeping our recycle container nearby can help alleviate this situation immediately after the unsolicited ads and other mailing materials are received. Expandable folders or filing system in a desk could be another option to consider.I personally have a canvas tote for magazine use and collect multiple magazines - then review them at one sitting.

  • Mine goes in the recycle bin or compost bin, but here's a link with some diy ideas:

AHHHHH!!! I think this is a common problem!!! Very frustrating! We have a paper sorter slot system in our office that definitely helps get the papers off the desk or tabletop and sorts them nicely until you can tackle it into a file system. It helps so much. They are called Bankers boxes. Each person in our family has a slot dedicated to them and I have dedicated a slot to upcoming bills, important receipts, paid bills, and 'To file'. Get one big enough for the amount of slots you need. This at least keeps my workspace and desk clear from clutter before I have time to deal with each item.

As far as magazines, I have been letting them go more and more because the Internet has taken the place of hanging on to magazines. OR...if I really want something, I tear out an article and hold it in a binder of wanted things or I scan it or take a picture. Magazines can take over. If they are magazines coming from stores that have discounts, I only hold on to them for a few weeks when I need them. Otherwise I get rid of them right away.

Small pieces of paper with phone numbers or important things you need to remember can be transferred to the NOTES on your phone.

Good luck! Even when you do have an organized system, it still takes a lot of effort to keep all that clutter away from the desk. Just keep at it:)

Hi ! I am guilty of the same thing ... This is how I solved my problem . One , throw out junk mail !!! Rip out any coupons or offers you want to save . Find time to read the magazines , again rip out recipes or projects you might want to do . Get a few decorative boxes from Michael's label each one for what you tend to save ...coupons , projects , recipes , trip ideas ..that way you have a neat place to store them , semi organized! Then I bought 2 metal office drawer dividers , I labeled them to pay & to file . I open each bill , and on the outside of the envelope the due date and optional the amount due . I keep them in order of the date . Then once paid I write right on the stub , when I paid , how much , check # or confirmation # and put that in the to file bin . Then shred the rest of the papers !!! When you have a few minutes , file the papers properly . Good luck !

I go through mine in the garage before I enter the house. Any junk mail is trashed immediately. I have all bills sent electronically. This leaves very little. Magazines are dropped into the rack. Any mail that does make it in goes into the wall mounted mail organizer.
