How do I paint thats not been painted for30 years
What are you painting? What's it made of?
Thx. My first thought was a tin roof. Room never came to mind, so funny. I guess I've lived in old houses too long.
Wash the walls with TSP cleaner found in hardware stores. Then paint. Spackle any holes with spackling or joint compound first, applying with a small putty knife. Let dry and lightly sand until smooth and even with the wall. Then paint. Most paint needs two coats. follow directions on the can.
Wash walls with TSP. Patch and repair any damage. Let dry thoroughly. Then prime coat. Then paint. Here are more detailed instructions.
Wipe the walls with a dry swiffer after any repairs are made. Remove switch and outlet covers. Cut in with a brush then paint. IF you are going dark to light you will want to prime first, even if using a paint & primer in one.
Sorry but don't know what a roo is? Is that slang?
