Turn a white canvas into a custom piece of art with a frame. Get all the details and make one for your home using these steps.

If you want to see all of my Hometalk projects, be sure to hit that follow button up above.

Start with a blank white canvas. You will also need:

Black paint, paint brushes, pencil, stencil.

You can use a premade stencil for this project, or you can free hand letters.

I chose to cut letters using my Silhouette and cut them out of card stock. No need to use vinyl or other fancy materials.

I laid the card stock on my canvas and secured it in place with washi tape.

Then I traced the letters onto the canvas.

Using a fine tip paint brush fill in the letters with black paint.

To add the frame cut 1x4 boards to fit around the canvas and stain them a light gray.

Then using L brackets I secured the frame to the back of the canvas.

I hung this canvas in my dining room and love how it pops on my wall. The black and white really stand out and the simple wood frame makes this look like a high end piece of art.
