I have been looking for a simple shelf to go in my game room for a while now but everything I find is either too short, too long, not sturdy enough, or too expensive. I decided to take matters into my own hands and make one myself. This diy shelf is very easy and a really great price!

The great thing about it is that you can personalize it to the length you want and it is still the same cost!

Supplies needed:

-Two 1/2 inch by 8 inch pipes

-Two 1/2 inch caps

-Two floor flanges that fit 1/2 inch pipes

-one 2x8 cut to desired size (the one shown is cut 3 feet in length)

-wood stain

-sponge brush to apply stain

Apply the desired shade of stain to the 2x8 and let dry.

Connect the pipe to the floor flange and add the cap. Screw the assembled pipe bracket into the wall. This shelf is heavy, so I used a stud finder to make sure both brackets were securely placed.

Make sure both brackets are level.

Simply set the piece of stained wood onto the brackets, and you’re finished!

For just a few dollars you have a nice looking rustic contemporary shelf. To fill a bigger wall, make two, and place the other shelf a couple feet above the first.

This looks great! I've been wanting to make one of these for a while! Do you get the pipe in the plumbing section?
