Subway Canvas Art With Numbers

This project is so fun and easy! Large-scale canvas art like this can look good in any room, from the bedroom, to the living room, to the hallway! And this is such a quick way to make artwork that looks store bought!

There's only a few things you need to make this project:

• large canvas
• white paint
• black paint
• paint roller
• Cricut machine
• 12" x 14" Cricut mat
• Vinyl

Instructions:

The first step is to paint your canvas with white paint. Obviously, you can steer away from the black and white these and do any colours that you like, but these were the colours that would match my space the best!

For your Subway Number design, you can make your own designs in the Cricut Design Space, or you can use my finished design! Just open it in the Design Space and click "cut".

If you are doing large numbers, like I did, then you will likely need 12 x 24 inch mat to cut the vinyl for this project.

Now, use your Cricut Explore to cut your the numbers. This will take all the 5 yard roll of the black vinyl.

When the number are all cut out, use the template provided to help layer all your numbers on the large canvas, or create your own design.

I was planning to paint over the stencils and then remove the vinyl after that, but in order to do that, I first needed to make sure that the vinyl was nice and flat on the canvas.

I used a hair dryer on the numbers to help them adhere to the canvas and to make sure they were flat.

The final step was to paint over all the stencils with black paint.

When the paint is dry you can easily peel off the number stencil underneath. You'll get nice crisp white number.

I had this canvas art idea in my head for a while, and this vinyl project was the perfect time to make it happen. The perfect piece of art for our guest bedroom!
