Recycled CD Christmas Wreath

I had a big stack of CD's or compact discs sitting in a drawer just taking up space. Not wanting to toss them out I came up with a great recycle idea. I made a wreath using the compact discs! The wreath is fun and unique and so easy to make.

We don't download music or photos onto compact discs anymore so this stack of CD's were just going to waste. I hated to send them to the landfill. Recycling items is always the best idea.

The CD's are solid white on one side and the opposite side is shiny silver almost like aluminum.

I thought the white side of the CD's would make a pretty wreath. I laid them out in a circle. I didn't measure or try to get the circle exactly uniform.

Next step is to adhere the CD's to each other. I used a glue gun and applied a small amount of hot glue between each CD.

To insure the glue sealed the CD's together I applied pressure to the glued area until the hot glue dried.

After gluing the complete circle I held it up to see if everything was going to stay in place.....and it did.

Now I needed to make a bow for the wreath. Since I have a black and white buffalo check plaid addiction I had the perfect ribbon on hand.

I first made a small bow and it didn't give enough umph to the circle of CD's.

I made a bigger bow and it still didn't work for me. I found a stem of pearly looking berries in my Christmas decorating stash and added it to the bow.

The berry stem was the perfect finish for the bow. I hot glued the bow to the CD wreath and that was it.

The upcycled CD's look great as a wreath.

I can use this wreath all winter then change out the bow with the seasons.

The white wreath can be used against any backdrop.

One more look at the wreath. You can find this wreath and more DIY upcycle projects on the blog here.
