Can I use chalk paint on a bungee cord chair?

I want to change the color of my chair (199.00 at containter store so i'm not buying a new one). I was wondering if i can use chalk paint on the cords -- they're material but flexible like elastic so the seat will move when i sit on it. I want the paint to stick but not become stiff. Should i water it down a little? Thanks for your help.

I am not sure that chalk paint would be the right choice for this, perhaps a fabric paint would be a better choice.
I don't know about chalk paint. Never used it. But regular paint with a 50/50 mix of water will act as a stain and soak into the cords.
I agree with Chloe, I'd use fabric paint and follow directions on bottle. Good luck.
Can you remove the bungee chord and dip dye them (eg Rit dye)? That’s the only way I can see colour change that won’t flake off when the bungee expands etc.
I agree, paint will just crack and peel off a stretchy cord like bungee cords..... I would use Rit Dye in the spray bottle technique.... no need to take cords off..... https://www.ritdye.com/techniques/tie-dye/squirt-bottle-technique/ they have a new formula for synthetics called Dye More
This is the chair. I bought fabric paint yesterday so I’ll try it this weekend. Thank you for your suggestions. I like the rit dye spraying idea too. Both seem to need heat to set. Do you think that’s really important? Is a hair dryer enough? Or do I really need to try an iron? Thanks again. It’s so nice to have knowledgeable people to help me.
