How can I make over the front of my house to increase curb appeal?

Your home is shouting out for Shutters, and I would also paint the framework and poles across the front to match and or plant a climber across them. A window box would also look good under small flat window.

If you don't like shutters, then Paint the house a colour and keep the window frames white. Plant boxes across front between the poles would look good too.

How about a big wreath over the first window? And its hard to tell from the pick what is right up against the house if that's grass or brick?? You could get 2 tall outdoor plants in planters and put them on either side of the bay window!

I would repaint the entire thing. Paint is the cheapest thing you can do.

The bay window, the front door and the dormer need to “pop”.

The planter needs something like a bird bath, that doesn’t depend on the seasons and some bark mulch.

If you’re wanting to sell the house, then there’s a lot color schemes out there. The key is to repeat the colors in a balanced composition.

It's a big ticket item, but a second dormer window would balance the whole house nicely (and make more usable space upstairs!)

Painting the front door would really make it come alive. Plant some flowers, seed the yard and add some cute chairs to the porch. It's a blank slate and will be so cute when you're done.

Without painting the house. It's begging for shutters. Either red to match the patio or black. Door needs paint. If you choose red shutters then red door. Otherwise any other color to show off the entrance. Wrap the posts with wood to make them chunky and stand out.

First paint the front door so that it stands out. I would also put shutters on the windows. Then put in some flower beds and bushes all along the front.

From the curb viewpoint, the two strips of concrete (driveway and walkway) and the strip of grass, make the property look harsh and chopped up.

I would completely remove the inside strip of grass and enlarge the driveway. The grass, and mishmash of what is growing in it look unattractive, and a larger driveway would be more convenient and require much less maintenance.

Then remove the old 'bowling lane' walkway and lay a new one that joins to the driveway in a curve. This is itself would soften the look of yard, and would blend the land with the house.

Agree with FrugalFamily's comment that another dormer would help balance the upper part of the house. However, changing the flat window on the left hand side with a larger bay window similar to the one on the right would also result in the house structure being more balanced.

Changing the panes on the plain sashed two windows to grilled, like the third window, would be another way make the features of the house more cohesive.

Also agree with Williams's suggestion to beef up the pillars.

Doing this would update and give the front of the house more presence. I would also paint the side fence and the bottom brick white, which would make the entire house seem larger.

Paint is your best friend. Paint the trim and the porch posts in a color, along with the front door. Then consider shutters as well and paint them. Also, a few small bushes repeated across the front of your home will be an added touch and green up the grass when spring arrives.

Looking again at the picture of the front of your house, I am wondering if the bricked over area under the window was intended to be a sort of patio?

Raising it up so that it is the same height as the front stoop would create a genuine porch which would then be a base for the pillars. Having a functioning porch would make the front of the house seem larger and would create an inviting appearance to the property.

I think your house is adorable! I would add a few chairs to the porch and maybe shutters on the windows. I am not sure the grass situation but maybe some sod would help? I think your house is great!
